  • The concept in magick that desire itself inhibits the success of magick is something that seems too difficult to overcome. How can one want something and then not want it in an attempt to get the desired results, without desire? Very paradoxical.

Remember one of the very first lesson on polarization. If you can depolarize yourself then you won't feel so strongly about your desires so it will be easier to forget about them

But if one can forget their desire, there is no need to do the work in the first place.

Haha yes which is ironic because buddhism is about giving up everything

you have have things without being attached to them. Again it's polarised thinking to say Buddhism is about giving everything up. Did the Buddha not recommend the middle way....

starting about 14:20 time stamp in this video "Mr Ali Nakjavani Green Acre"  Finn MacCool the "paradox" trick is the fact that we cannot possibly always know "what we want" and need all the time, otherwise we're just ridiculous spoiled brat overgrown children responding to instant gratification and entitlement, have no humility, and are full of hubris, pride, and arrogance .https://youtu.be/H9lXeobn6OU?t=909

This verse from a Bahai prayer really seemed to hit overcoming this "paradox" on the nail for me. I'm better off refraining from measuring success by "what I want" and success is actually refraining from the hubris that what you have is always what you deserve or don't deserve, considering what does the best good for the love of a loving God. https://www.bahaiprayers.io/prayer?id=225020 " I know not that which profiteth me or harmeth me; Thou art, verily, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Do Thou decree for me, O Lord, my God, and my Master, that which will make me feel content with Thine eternal decree and will prosper me in every world of Thine. Thou art in truth the Gracious, the Bountiful."
